Dog-Friendly Parks & Green Spaces in Villefranche-sur-Mer

The Cap Ferrat coastal footpath is a roughly 10 km loop around the peninsula immediately south of Villefranche, taking in Plage de Passable on the Villefranche-facing side, Pointe Saint-Hospice with its 19th-century chapel and lighthouse, and the eastern side facing Beaulieu. Leashed dogs are welcome throughout the public path. Underfoot is paved, gravel and rocky in turns, well shaded by parasol pines and Aleppo pines in several stretches. The full loop takes around three hours at an easy pace; the Pointe Saint-Hospice headland alone is a 90-minute return.

The 16th-century Citadelle Saint-Elme commands the southern flank of Villefranche between the Vieille Ville and the Port de la Darse. Its outer ramparts open onto small landscaped gardens with parasol pines, oleanders and harbour views; leashed dogs are welcome throughout the gardens and along the ramparts free of charge. The Musée Volti (sculpture) and the small chapel exhibits inside the keep do not admit dogs. The walk up from the Port de la Santé takes 10 minutes via stepped lanes.

The seafront promenade that links the SNCF station to the eastern end of the Plage des Marinières and the start of the Sentier du Littoral towards Cap Ferrat. About 1 km long, paved, level, with benches and a row of parasol pines on the inland side, it is the everyday dog-walk corridor of the town. Leashed dogs are welcome throughout. From the eastern end the path continues unbroken into the Cap Ferrat coastal trail, so it doubles as the gentle warm-up to the headline walk.
