Valldemossa rewards visitors who plan slightly ahead. The village is tiny and has no vet of its own, the nearest day clinic is 7 km away in Esporles and the nearest 24h hospital is 17 km away in Palma. The Real Cartuja monastery, the village's main draw, accepts leashed dogs in its outdoor cloister and gardens but not inside the museum cells, verify the day's policy at the entrance. The Serra de Tramuntana is a UNESCO Cultural Landscape with strict leash rules due to sheep grazing. Mallorca's seasonal beach ban applies at Cala Valldemossa from April 1 to October 31. The compulsory pet insurance for dogs in the Balearic Islands (since September 2023) catches many visitors out, check before flying.
