Platja Gran
Centre, beneath the Vila Vella ramparts · Passeig del Mar, 17320 Tossa de Mar
The 380 m main town beach of fine sand stretching from the Passeig del Mar to the rocky base of the Vila Vella headland, with the medieval walls and towers framing the northern end. Supervised in summer with a full ban on dogs; out of season (October to May) leashed dogs are tolerated and locals walk the beach at 09:00 and 19:00. The Ava Gardner statue overlooking the bay (1951 `Pandora and the Flying Dutchman` filming) sits on the Vila Vella rocks at the north end.
💡 From October to May the sand stays warm into the early afternoon, the ideal nap-time slot for a leashed senior dog at the northern end under the Vila Vella walls
