Dog-Friendly Beaches in Tossa de Mar

The 380 m main town beach of fine sand stretching from the Passeig del Mar to the rocky base of the Vila Vella headland, with the medieval walls and towers framing the northern end. Supervised in summer with a full ban on dogs; out of season (October to May) leashed dogs are tolerated and locals walk the beach at 09:00 and 19:00. The Ava Gardner statue overlooking the bay (1951 `Pandora and the Flying Dutchman` filming) sits on the Vila Vella rocks at the north end.

A small, sheltered 80 m sand and pebble cove on the GI-682 coast road 3 km south of Tossa, backed by pine forest and reachable on foot via the Camí de Ronda GR-92 or by car with a small roadside car park. Not municipally supervised, so the in-town summer ban does not apply; leashed dogs welcome year-round.

A 180 m smaller sand and shingle cove just north-east of the Vila Vella, separated from Platja Gran by the rocky headland and reached by the Avinguda Mar Menuda. Popular with local divers thanks to the rocky underwater terrain. Supervised in summer with the same dog ban as Platja Gran; out of season leashed dogs welcome.
