Ponte Romana over Rio Gilão
Centro histórico
The seven-arch stone bridge over the Rio Gilão is the signature image of Tavira, traditionally attributed to the Romans but largely rebuilt in the medieval and modern periods. The bridge is pedestrian-only since 2016 and admits leashed dogs day and night, with the best photo angle from the Praça da República esplanada.
💡 Cross at dusk; the bridge lamps light up the seven arches reflected in the Rio Gilão for the best long-exposure photo, with low pedestrian traffic.
