Sanremo sits on the Genoa-Ventimiglia railway, and its station is largely underground in the centre, so you arrive close to the seafront. On Trenitalia trains small dogs travel free in a carrier (up to 70x30x50 cm, one per passenger), while larger dogs travel on a leash with a muzzle carried, on a regional ticket at half the second-class fare. Around town, Riviera Trasporti runs the local buses along the coast, and the flat seafront and cycle path mean much of Sanremo is comfortably walkable on foot. Carry your dog's microchip and health papers, as they can be requested on trains.
