Parks & Walks in Sanremo

The star of the coast: a flat, paved seafront path on the old Genoa-Ventimiglia railway line, running about 24 km through Sanremo between Ospedaletti and San Lorenzo al Mare. It is level, largely traffic-free and shared by walkers and cyclists, so it is the single best long walk in the area for a dog, best done early before the midday sun.

A free public park off Corso Cavallotti laid out as an open-air botanical museum, with palm groves, cedars and a Japanese garden created through Sanremo's twinning with Atami. The shaded paths and lawns make a calm, cool loop in the middle of town.

The grand palm-lined avenue along the western seafront, the oldest public promenade in Sanremo and named for a Russian empress who wintered here. It is flat and level, links neatly to the cycle path, and is an easy on-leash stroll with sea views.
