Dog-Friendly Parks & Green Spaces in Saint-Tropez

The hilltop esplanade around the 16th-century Citadelle is the closest thing to a central park in Saint-Tropez: a windy grassy plateau with sweeping views over the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, the Vieux Port below and the Massif des Maures behind. Leashed dogs are welcome on the esplanade and the surrounding ramparts; the interior of the Musée d'Histoire Maritime is off-limits. The walk up from the port takes 15 minutes through stepped lanes. It is the most reliable everyday dog walk in central Saint-Tropez, especially at sunset.

The Sentier du Littoral is a 35 km coastal footpath running from the Plage de la Bouillabaisse around the peninsula to Cavalaire. The section from the Plage des Salins around the Cap de Saint-Tropez to the Plage de Tahiti is one of the prettiest and least exposed: shaded by parasol pines, rocky underfoot, with frequent small coves for a dip. Leashed dogs are welcome throughout the public path. The full Saint-Tropez to Ramatuelle section is around 12 km one way, shorter loops are possible from any beach entry point.

The plane-tree-shaded central square of Saint-Tropez, where the pétanque players gather every afternoon and the Provençal market spreads out Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Not a park in the formal sense, but the gravel under the plane trees is the main daily meeting point of the town and leashed dogs are everywhere among locals, bocce players and café terraces. It is a five-minute walk from the Vieux Port and an ideal short stop between visits to give the dog a sniff around.
