Dog-Friendly Attractions in Saint-Malo

The granite-walled old town and its 2 km rampart walk are the heart of any Saint-Malo visit, and both are open to leashed dogs year-round. From the walls you get 360-degree views over the sea, Fort National, the Grand Bé and the Plage du Sillon. Wander the cobbled lanes below, then climb to the ramparts for the classic corsair-city panorama.

A tidal islet reached on foot from the Plage de Bon-Secours at low tide, crowned by the simple seaward tomb of the writer Chateaubriand, born in Saint-Malo in 1768. Dogs are welcome on-leash, but the islet is cut off by the sea for around six hours at high tide. Cross only on a falling or low tide and watch the water closely.

A Vauban-designed fort of 1689 sitting on a rocky islet just off the ramparts, reachable on foot across the sand at low tide. The approach walk and surroundings can be enjoyed with a leashed dog, with grandstand views back to the walled town. As with all the islets, access depends entirely on the tide.
