Parco del Delta del Po ยท Via delle Brughe, Ravenna (north of the city, towards Marina Romea)
Ravenna's great asset for dogs is its ring of historic pinewoods and the Po Delta nature park on the city's doorstep. The Pineta di San Vitale and Pineta di Classe offer kilometres of shaded, flat trails through umbrella pines, while inside the walls the Rocca Brancaleone garden has a dedicated dog-exercise area. Dogs must stay leashed in the regional park to protect wildlife. One important seasonal warning for the pinewoods: the processionary caterpillar (processionaria del pino), which appears in late winter and spring and is dangerous, even fatal, to dogs that sniff or lick it.
