Christ Church Meadow

The 16-hectare floodplain meadow where the Cherwell meets the Thames, owned by Christ Church College but open free to the public. The 1.5-mile circular path passes the college boathouses and offers the postcard view of Oxford's dreaming spires; dogs must stay on a short lead at all times because of the resident Highland cattle.

Norham Manor · Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3RF

37 hectares of grassland and woodland between the Cherwell and Parks Road, owned by Oxford University and open free to the public — King Charles II walked his dogs here in the 1680s. Dogs must stay on a lead at all times and are excluded from the cricket pitch enclosure in the centre.
