Naxos has no fenced city dog parks, but it offers something better: long open beaches, quiet headland paths around Chora, and green inland valleys for cooler walks. Dogs must be leashed in public under Greek law, and you should carry waste bags and water. Walk early or late in summer, as midday heat on stone and sand is hard on paws.
The long sandy beach of Agios Georgios sits right beside Chora, with a flat, walkable promenade and shallow water perfect for a leashed dog's morning stroll. It is the easiest green-and-blue space to reach on foot from the town's hotels. Early mornings and evenings are calm, cooler, and far less crowded than midday.

The short causeway and rocky islet leading to the Portara (the giant marble gateway of the Temple of Apollo) is an open-air, leash-friendly walk right at the edge of Chora. Dogs are welcome on the path and around the monument, which is unfenced and free to visit at any hour. It is the island's signature sunset stroll, breezy and cooler than the inland streets.

Inland Naxos is surprisingly green, and the olive groves and plane-shaded lanes around Melanes and the Tragea valley offer cooler, shaded walking away from the coastal heat. These quiet country paths, dotted with old marble kouros statues and Byzantine chapels, are excellent for a leashed dog needing a break from sand and crowds. Bring plenty of water, as facilities are sparse.
