Chรขteau de Chillon
Veytaux (3 km E of Montreux) ยท Avenue de Chillon 21, 1820 Veytaux
The 13th-century lakeside castle made famous by Lord Byron's poem The Prisoner of Chillon (1816), perched on a rocky islet at the eastern end of Lake Geneva 3 km from Montreux. The Fondation Chillon permits leashed dogs in the outdoor courtyards and the surrounding gardens but not inside the museum rooms or chapel. Most visitors split the visit: one person rotates inside while the other waits at the lakeside courtyard tables with the dog. The walk along the Quais Fleuris from Montreux to Chillon (50 minutes) is the classic approach.
๐ก Combine the visit with the 15-minute CGN boat ride from Montreux to Chillon, the boat docks at the castle gate and dogs ride the open deck free. The walk back along the Quais Fleuris is the classic golden-hour return.
