Pet-Friendly Attractions in Mahón

Trepucó is the most accessible of the Bronze Age Talaiotic sites listed under the UNESCO Talaiotic Menorca World Heritage inscription. Just 1 km south of Mahón, it preserves a large central talayot tower, a taula sanctuary, and the remains of defensive walls dating from around 1000 BC. The site is open countryside, free to visit, and dogs are welcome on a leash among the megaliths.

The Port de Maó is the world's second longest natural deep-water harbour after Pearl Harbor, stretching almost 5 km inland from the open sea to the foot of the old town. Walking the Moll de Llevant from the foot of the old town towards the harbour mouth is a free, world-class introduction to the city and one of the best urban dog walks in the Balearics, with the bay on one side and the British-Mediterranean townhouses on the other.

The Camí de Cavalls (GR-223) is a 185 km waymarked coastal trail circling all of Menorca, originally the cavalry path used by the island's local horsemen. The Mahón section runs north along the coast from the Port de Maó towards Es Grau and south towards Cala Sant Esteve, with stages of 6 to 12 km that are entirely flat and easy. Dogs on a leash are welcome on the whole GR-223 and the trail is one of the best multi-day pet-friendly hikes in the western Mediterranean.
