Dog-Friendly Attractions in Linz

One of the largest enclosed medieval squares in Central Europe, 13 200 m² of cobblestones surrounded by baroque townhouses, the Old Town Hall and the 1723 Trinity Column at its centre. Leashed dogs are welcome everywhere on the square and at every pavement café terrace. The Pöstlingbergbahn line 50 starts here at the eastern end.

The twin-towered baroque pilgrimage basilica that crowns the 539 m Pöstlingberg hill, visible from every corner of the city below. Leashed dogs are welcome on the summit terrace, on the panoramic walkway that wraps around the basilica and at the café outdoor seating. Only service dogs are allowed inside the nave. The view stretches across the city, the Danube and on a clear day to the Alps.

An open-air sculpture trail running through the Donaupark on the south bank of the Danube. The original 1977 Forum Metall symposium left ten monumental steel works in the park; new acquisitions have brought the count to about twenty. Leashed dogs are welcome on every gravel path that links the sculptures, and the river view from the central plaza is the most-photographed dog-walk backdrop in Linz.
