NS Trains (Leiden Centraal)
๐ก Buy the Dagkaart Hond at any yellow NS machine on the Leiden Centraal concourse before boarding; one ticket covers all NS travel that day, including the side trips to Den Haag, Rotterdam and Haarlem.
Leiden Centraal is one of the busiest NS stations in the Netherlands, a five-minute walk from the Beestenmarkt and the historic centre, with direct Intercity trains to Amsterdam Centraal in 35 minutes, Den Haag in 12 minutes, Rotterdam in 25 minutes and Schiphol Airport in 17 minutes. NS rules apply nationwide: dogs in a carrier travel free, larger dogs need an NS Dagkaart Hond (โฌ3.30) and a leash. Local Arriva regional trains, Connexxion buses 30/31/57 to the Bollenstreek tulip fields and the Katwijk and Noordwijk beaches, plus the new R-Net rapid-transit buses complete the picture.

๐ก Buy a single OV-chipkaart bus ticket at the front kiosk or tap a contactless card on board; the bus 30 drops you 200 m from the Katwijk dog beach Northern zone.

๐ก If you fly with KLM out of Schiphol, the pet-relief room in Terminal 3 land-side is the largest and quietest; ask staff for the door code at check-in.
