A 33-hectare city forest north of the Leiden Centraal station, designed in the 1930s as an English-style landscape park with mature beech and oak avenues, a winding pond, an open-air theatre and a children's farm. The fenced off-leash dog meadow ('hondenlosloopgebied') sits on the eastern edge near the Houtlaan entrance, and the long perimeter trails work as a calm 4 km loop on leash. Used by city dog owners morning and evening year-round.

Leiden's largest park, a 100-hectare reclaimed polder south of the historic singel ring, laced with reed-fringed waterways, wildflower meadows and dyke paths. Includes a dedicated fenced off-leash dog meadow with a lake-side dog swim spot near the Vlietweg entrance, a visitor centre with an organic café, and a 5 km perimeter cycle/walk loop.
