Leidse Hout
Houtkwartier ยท Houtlaan, 2334 CL Leiden
A 33-hectare city forest north of the Leiden Centraal station, designed in the 1930s as an English-style landscape park with mature beech and oak avenues, a winding pond, an open-air theatre and a children's farm. The fenced off-leash dog meadow ('hondenlosloopgebied') sits on the eastern edge near the Houtlaan entrance, and the long perimeter trails work as a calm 4 km loop on leash. Used by city dog owners morning and evening year-round.
๐ก Park at the Houtlaan entrance, the fenced losloop meadow is 200 m south of the parking; mornings before 09:00 it is half-empty and the kiosk by the pond opens at 10:00 for coffee.
