Ksamil is an emerging Albanian Riviera destination where dog infrastructure is thin but the welcome is warm and the off-season is genuinely dog-paradise. The single most important thing to understand is the seasonal split: summer is crowded, paid and dog-unfriendly on the sand, while autumn to spring opens the beaches up completely.

The key local fact: roughly mid-September to early May, Ksamil's paid summer beaches clear of sunbeds and open up, with dogs free to roam and swim, often off-leash. In peak summer (June to August) the same beaches are crowded, paid and largely dog-unfriendly. Plan a dog trip for the shoulder or off-season.
The Albanian Riviera is hot from June to September, with August averaging around 30ยฐC in the daytime and very strong sun. Walk dogs early morning and after sunset, avoid hot sand and paving at midday, carry water everywhere, and never leave a dog in a parked car, where temperatures turn lethal within minutes.
Albania is outside the EU. Bring an ISO microchip and proof of rabies vaccination given at least 21 days before entry (chip first, then vaccine), plus a vet health certificate. The official pet entry is Tirana airport. If you are continuing to or returning to the EU, carry the standard EU pet passport or EU health certificate as well.
Albania, including the Saranda area, has a visible community of friendly street dogs. Keep your own dog leashed in the village and around restaurants to avoid conflicts, watch for unneutered males, and be ready for curious encounters. Most locals are relaxed and welcoming about dogs on terraces and promenades.
