Pet-Friendly Attractions in Kotor

Kotor's UNESCO-listed Old Town is a maze of marble lanes, squares and Venetian palaces, all of it walkable with a leashed dog. While the paid 1,350-step fortress trail up to San Giovanni does not allow dogs, the free section of the city walls along the Scurda river and the northern bay perimeter can be explored with your dog for a taste of the ramparts and the views.

A short drive or boat ride up the bay, Perast is a tiny, car-free baroque village strung along a traffic-free seafront promenade of about one kilometre, lined with stone palaces and churches. It is one of the most relaxing dog walks in the whole bay: flat, scenic and quiet, with cafe terraces where a leashed dog is welcome and views out to the famous island churches.

Seeing the fjord-like Bay of Kotor from the water is the area's signature experience, taking in Perast, the island church of Our Lady of the Rocks and the dramatic mountain walls. Large group tours rarely take pets, but private charters along the Kotor and Perast waterfront will carry a dog by arrangement, giving you a calm, flexible cruise where your dog can stay at your side.
