Pet-Friendly Attractions in Hyères

Hyères' medieval old town climbs the hill above Avenue Gambetta through Place Massillon (the market square), past the Collégiale Saint-Paul, and up to the Parc Saint-Bernard and the ruins of the medieval castle, with a sweeping panorama of the Giens peninsula and the Îles d'Or. The full ascent on foot is 30 to 40 minutes and is entirely dog-accessible on a lead.

Porquerolles, the largest of the Îles d'Or, is reachable in 20 minutes from La Tour Fondue on the TLV-TVM shuttles. Per the Port-Cros National Park rules, dogs are welcome in the village square and on the forest trails (on a leash, under control) but strictly banned from all beaches. With a flexible plan and a sitter for the swim time, it is a feasible day trip with a dog.

Hyères is nicknamed Hyères-les-Palmiers because of the long Avenue Gambetta lined with Canary Island date palms, the spine of the modern town between the SNCF station and the old casino. The pavements are wide, the terraces dog-friendly and the avenue gives an easy 800 m flat walk on hot afternoons under continuous palm shade.
