Pet-Friendly Beaches near Getxo

Getxo's flagship urban beach, 800 m of fine sand below the Puerto Viejo de Algorta, framed by the Punta Galea cliffs and a wide promenade. Dogs are banned as a general recreation activity from 1 May to 30 September; during the bathing season access is allowed only between 20:00 and 09:30 with mandatory leash, and outside the season leashed dogs are welcome at most hours.

A 300 m strip of sand at the Nervión estuary mouth, on the Getxo side of the Vizcaya Bridge, with calm sheltered water and the Romantic-era promenade of Las Arenas above. Same Getxo seasonal rule applies: dogs banned 1 May to 30 September except 20:00 to 09:30 with leash; off-season leashed dogs allowed most hours.

A 250 m crescent beach below the Punta Galea cliffs, the smallest and most rocky of the three Getxo urban beaches and the surfer favourite. Subject to the same municipal rule banning dogs from general recreation 1 May-30 September; off-season leashed dogs are welcome most hours.
