Dog-Friendly Beaches in & near Genoa

The first publicly designated dog beach in the Liguria region — a free pebble-and-sand stretch on the western edge of Genoa, equipped with water fountains, drinking hoses, and dispensers of poo bags and shovels. Dogs are welcome on lead year-round. Reached by Trenitalia regional train to Genova Voltri (25 minutes from Genova Brignole) and a 5-minute walk.

A small, free public pebble beach in a sheltered cove between Sturla and Boccadasse, much quieter than either of its neighbours. Dogs are allowed on lead year-round and tolerated off-leash by locals outside the official summer bathing zone. Reached by AMT bus 31 from the centre in 15 minutes.

One of Italy's longest-established dedicated dog beaches, in the resort village of Santa Margherita Ligure 35 km east of Genoa. Open 09:30–19:30 in season, with showers, fresh-water dog fountains, and a small entry fee for use of facilities. All sizes welcome. Reached by Trenitalia in 30 minutes from Genova Brignole.
