Dog-Friendly Parks in Fréjus

The Base Nature François Léotard is a 100+ hectare park on the site of the former Fréjus naval air station, with flat tarmac paths, picnic lawns, a free-access beach (Pacha Plage) and now a brand-new fully enclosed off-leash Woof Park. The dog park includes agility obstacles, a push-button drinking fountain and shaded benches for owners. Categories 1 and 2 fighting dogs are banned from the Woof Park.

A 23-hectare wooded park surrounding the 19th-century Villa Aurelienne, a few minutes north of the Vieille Ville. Tall umbrella pines provide deep shade in summer, and a network of shaded paths is ideal for a slow morning walk with an older dog. The Roman aqueduct ruins run through the park, an unusual setting for a daily walk.

A 260-hectare coastal lagoon and wetland reserve at the western end of the Fréjus municipality, between Saint-Aygulf and the Argens river mouth. Flat marked paths cross the reed beds and dunes, with a rich bird population. Dogs on leads are permitted on the perimeter footpaths; the central reserve sectors are protected and posted off-limits.
