Estepona itself has no official dog beach, and dogs are banned from all of its municipal beaches during the bathing season, from 1 June to 30 September, with substantial fines. The good news is that neighbouring municipalities have opened proper dog beaches (playas caninas) within a short drive, so summer visitors with a dog should head to Piedra Paloma in Casares, El Pinillo in Marbella or Las Arenas in Manilva. Outside the summer ban, dogs are more widely tolerated on Estepona's quieter beaches, but it is always worth checking with the town hall first.
The nearest official dog beach (playa canina), opened for the 2025 season, sitting right on the western edge of the Estepona municipal boundary. A roughly 500 m stretch of mixed pebbles and sand where dogs are allowed even in summer.
