Best Dog Parks in Düsseldorf

Germany's first public park (1769), 28 hectares of English-landscape lawns and ponds in the very centre of Düsseldorf, between the Königsallee and the Rhine. Dogs must be leashed throughout the park; an off-leash Hundewiese borders the eastern edge along the Inselstraße for free running.

A 70-hectare landscape park south of the centre, designed in the late 19th century around two ponds and a wooded ridge. Dogs must be leashed on paths, but a large fenced Hundewiese near the Auf'm Hennekamp entrance gives off-leash space; the southern wood section connects to the Südfriedhof for longer leashed walks.

A 36-hectare formal park laid out in 1937, near the Messe trade fair grounds and the EKŌ-Haus Japanese centre. The park's main lawns and rose garden require dogs on leash, but the wooded northern section near the Kaiserswerther Straße has an off-leash Hundewiese. The aquazoo Löbbecke Museum (assistance dogs only) sits at the eastern edge.
