Dog Parks & Walks in Dubrovnik

The Lapad Peninsula has a pleasant tree-lined promenade running along the bay, with cafés, restaurants, and direct sea access. This is the most comfortable walking environment for dogs in Dubrovnik — more shaded than the Old Town, a sea breeze, and far fewer crowds. Dogs on-leash are welcome throughout. The promenade connects to several small pebble beaches (dog-restricted June–September on main beach areas). A morning or evening walk on the Lapad promenade is the recommended daily walk for dogs in Dubrovnik.

The coastal path along the Sustjepan headland west of the Lapad Peninsula offers some of the most spectacular coastal walking near Dubrovnik, with views across the Elaphiti Islands. The path is rocky and requires good footwear and a sure-footed dog — not suitable for elderly dogs. Dogs on-leash are welcome. The path connects several small rocky coves where dogs can swim outside the June–September restriction period. Significantly cooler than the Old Town due to the open sea exposure.

The Elaphiti Islands (Lopud, Šipan, and Koločep) are a group of small, car-free islands northwest of Dubrovnik, reachable by Jadrolinija ferry from Gruž harbour. The islands are extraordinarily dog-friendly — car-free environments, peaceful olive groves, pine forests, and quiet coves where dogs can swim outside the bathing season restrictions. Lopud is the most developed; Šipan is the largest and quietest; Koločep is tiny and forested. A day trip to any of these islands is the single best experience you can have with a dog near Dubrovnik.
