Getting Around Ciutadella with Your Pet

The TIB / Transportes Menorca network operates the island-wide bus service from Ciutadella's bus station on Plaça dels Pins, two blocks east of the old town. The full schedule reaches Mahón (line L12, 1 hour, €5), Ferreries, Es Mercadal, the south-western beach cluster (Cala Galdana, Cala Macarella seasonal shuttle from Ciutadella), and Cap d'Artrutx. Pets in an approved carrier travel free; larger dogs on a leash and muzzle are accepted at the driver's discretion, generally without issue outside the peak summer rush hours.

Mahón-Menorca airport (IATA: MAH) is the only airport on the island, 45 km east of Ciutadella, a 45 to 55 minute drive. A taxi between the airport and Ciutadella costs €60 to €70 fixed-rate, the cross-island L12 TIB bus costs €5 and runs roughly every hour (carrier-free pets, larger dogs at driver's discretion). Most major Spanish and European airlines operate seasonal routes; pet hold and cabin policies vary by carrier.

The Ciutadella to Alcúdia (Mallorca) fast catamaran is the most pet-friendly way to combine the two main Balearic islands. Iscomar and Trasmediterránea both operate the route, with crossings of about 1 hour and 4 to 6 departures a day in season. Cars are accepted on every sailing, pet cabins are available on the longer ferries, and small dogs in a carrier travel free in the passenger lounge. The terminal is a 10-minute walk from the old town.
