Pet-Friendly Attractions in Ciutadella

The Naveta des Tudons is the most iconic Bronze Age megalith on Menorca, a 3,000-year-old funerary chamber shaped like an upside-down boat (naveta) built from massive limestone blocks without mortar. Inscribed in the UNESCO Talaiotic Menorca World Heritage Site since 2023, the monument sits in open countryside 4 km east of Ciutadella on the cross-island road. The site is an open-air enclosure, free to visit, and dogs on a leash are welcome on the perimeter walk around the megalith.

The Castell de Sant Nicolau is the small 17th-century octagonal fortress and adjacent lighthouse guarding the mouth of the Port de Ciutadella, a 10-minute walk west from the Plaça d'es Born along the Passeig Marítim. The headland around the castle is a free open-air viewpoint at sunset, with the cliffs of the old town glowing across the port. Dogs on a leash are welcome on the headland and the surrounding rocks; the castle interior is a small free museum, closed to dogs.

The Camí de Cavalls (GR-223) is a 185 km waymarked coastal trail circling all of Menorca, originally the cavalry path used by the island's local horsemen. The Ciutadella section runs north from the Sant Nicolau lighthouse along the coast towards Cala Forcat, Cala Algaiarens and Cala Pregonda on the wild red-sand north coast, and south towards Cala en Turqueta and Cala Macarella on the south-west. Stages of 6 to 12 km are entirely flat and easy. Dogs on a leash are welcome on the whole GR-223 and the trail is one of the best multi-day pet-friendly hikes in the western Mediterranean.
