Firkas Fortress
Akti Kountourioti, 73100 Chania
16th-century Venetian fortress at the western entrance of the harbour, where the Greek flag was raised in 1913 to mark the union with Crete. The outer ramparts and courtyard are dog-accessible; the small Maritime Museum inside is not.
๐ก Climb to the upper rampart for the best panorama of the Venetian Harbour and Egyptian Lighthouse. Sunset light hits the harbour around 19:45 in summer.
