Getting Around Catania with a Dog

Catania is a compact city and most pet travellers walk: the centro storico is essentially one large ZTL with low traffic. AMTS operates the bus, metro and BRT network and follows the national Italian rule for dogs on local public transport, leashed and muzzled, with one large dog or two small ones per ticket holder. The blue narrow-gauge Ferrovia Circumetnea around the volcano and the Trenitalia regional trains both accept dogs under similar conditions. Taxis vary, so it pays to book a pet-friendly ride in advance with the app or by phone.
