Best Parks & Off-Leash Areas in Bremen

Bremen's grand 200-hectare central park, opened in 1866 and entirely funded by citizen donations. English-landscape lakes, meadows, woodland and a small wildlife enclosure make it the city's living room. A fenced Hundeauslauffläche on the western edge lets dogs run off-leash year-round.

The 200-hectare "city forest" extending north of the Bürgerpark, with mature beech and oak woodland, gravel forestry tracks and the Emmasee lake. Dogs can run off-leash on the marked Hundeauslaufflächen and on the wooded fringes outside the spring nesting period.

The historic moat and ramparts converted into a 2 km green park belt that loops around the medieval centre. Mature trees, the old Herdentorswallmühle windmill, swan pond and curving paths make it the most central dog walk in Bremen.
