Pet-Friendly Attractions in Bremen

Gerhard Marcks's 1953 bronze of four animals, donkey, dog, cat and rooster, stacked atop one another on the western side of the Town Hall. Inspired by the Brothers Grimm tale; tradition holds that rubbing the donkey's front legs brings good luck. The most photographed dog statue in Germany.

The Weser Renaissance Town Hall (built 1409, façade 1612) and the 5.5-metre Roland statue (1404) are jointly listed by UNESCO since 2004 as symbols of Hanseatic civic freedom. Roland is the largest free-standing medieval statue in Germany. The exterior plaza is open to dogs; the interior Ratskeller restaurant welcomes them indoors.

Bremen's oldest quarter, a maze of narrow cobblestone alleys lined with 15th-17th century half-timbered houses now home to artisan workshops, galleries, cafés and small museums. Pedestrianised entirely; the most charming dog walk in central Bremen.
