Pet-Friendly Attractions in Bremen

Gerhard Marcks's 1953 bronze of four animals — donkey, dog, cat and rooster — stacked atop one another on the western side of the Town Hall. Inspired by the Brothers Grimm tale; tradition holds that rubbing the donkey's front legs brings good luck. The most photographed dog statue in Germany.

The Weser Renaissance Town Hall (built 1409, façade 1612) and the 5.5-metre Roland statue (1404) are jointly listed by UNESCO since 2004 as symbols of Hanseatic civic freedom. Roland is the largest free-standing medieval statue in Germany. The exterior plaza is open to dogs; the interior Ratskeller restaurant welcomes them indoors.

Bremen's oldest quarter, a maze of narrow cobblestone alleys lined with 15th-17th century half-timbered houses now home to artisan workshops, galleries, cafés and small museums. Pedestrianised entirely; the most charming dog walk in central Bremen.
