Getting Around Bordeaux with Your Dog

Bordeaux is served by TBM (Transports Bordeaux Métropole), which operates the tram network, urban buses, and the Bat3 river shuttle. The rules for dogs are straightforward and consistently enforced: small dogs in a closed carrier of no more than 6kg are free of charge. Larger dogs are permitted on trams on a leash and must hold a valid transport ticket (the same single ticket as a passenger, currently around €1.70). Dogs are not permitted on seats at any time. The tram network covers most tourist itineraries efficiently — lines A, B, C, and D connect the major neighbourhoods. For walking, Bordeaux's historic centre is compact and entirely navigable on foot with a dog.
