Costa Nova and Praia da Barra are concessioned Blue Flag beaches where dogs are banned in the summer bathing season. For a summer dog beach day, head to a non-concessioned beach such as Praia de Cortegaça, where dogs are generally permitted year-round. Always read the entrance signage.
