A 14th-century red-brick tower on Gediminas Hill, the national symbol. The interior museum and the funicular are closed to non-assistance pets, but the switchback path to the summit is leash-friendly and offers one of central Europe's best free panoramas.

Bohemian artists' quarter that declared itself an independent republic in 1997, separated from the Old Town by the Vilnia stream. Constitution wall, the Angel of Užupis statue, and dozens of dog-friendly cafés, the city's most pet-welcoming neighbourhood.

Iconic monument of three white crosses on a wooded hilltop east of the Old Town, in Kalnų Park. The climb from Bernardine Garden is leash-friendly, about 25 minutes, the second-best free panorama in Vilnius.

Red-brick island castle on Lake Galvė, 30 km from Vilnius by train. Leashed dogs are welcome on the lakeside path and the wooded peninsulas; the castle itself is closed to non-assistance pets.
