Hondvriendelijke restaurants op Texel, Den Burg & strandpaviljoens

The island's working brewery and tasting room behind the Oudeschild harbour, in business since 1999 and now Texel's most recognisable food-and-drink destination. Dogs are welcome on the large outdoor terrace facing the brewing tanks and on the gravel courtyard between the brewery and the dyke; the indoor proeflokaal admits leashed dogs at the bar tables. The kitchen runs a short menu of Texelaar lamb burgers, North Sea fish and cheese plates, all matched with the eight Texelse Bier varieties on tap including the unfiltered Skuumkoppe.

A long-running beach pavilion at marker Paal 17 on the De Koog dog beach, with a wide wooden terrace facing the North Sea and a calm interior with sea-grass roof. Dogs are welcome everywhere, water bowls appear on arrival, and the beach in front is one of the five year-round off-leash sections on the island. The kitchen leans on grilled fish, Texelaar lamb specials and a long apple-tart list; sunset behind the pavilion is the classic Texel postcard.

A 1-Michelin-star fine-dining room in the smallest of Texel's seven villages that, unusually for its category, accepts well-behaved dogs at lunch on the front terrace facing the Den Hoorn church bell tower. Chef Jef Schuur runs a tight North Sea-and-island tasting menu using Texelaar lamb, day-boat fish from the Oudeschild fleet, and produce from the kitchen garden behind the inn. Reserve the terrace explicitly and mention the dog at booking; the indoor dining room is reserved for guests without pets.
