Zandvoort

The wide North Sea strand below the boulevard. Dogs off-lead all day from 1 October to 15 April; from 15 April to 1 October banned 09:00 to 19:00 and allowed only evening and early morning.

Just north at Bloemendaal aan Zee, the only nearby beach where dogs run off-lead in the daytime all year, including summer. The answer when Zandvoort's beach is closed to them by day.

The Noordduinen and Wurmenveld reserve behind the north beach, where dogs run free all year. Sandy paths, sea views, easy beach access. Watch for ground-nesting wildlife.

A 38 km² national park of dunes and woodland to the north. Dogs on the lead in most of it; Duinlust and Middenduin closed to dogs; stricter rules in breeding season (1 March to 15 July).

One of the few Dutch promenades with an uninterrupted sea view, running several kilometres above the beach. A level, easy walk with a leashed dog, lined with cafés and pavilions.

The Dutch Grand Prix circuit, set among the dunes. No dogs inside on event days (intense noise), but the dune paths around the perimeter make a leashed walk on non-race days.
