Tenerife

Spain's most visited national park, around the Teide volcano (3,715 m). The summit cable car and strict reserve zones are closed to dogs, but many lower trails and miradors on the Las Cañadas plateau are leash-accessible. Prepare for cold at altitude and sharp volcanic rock.

Tenerife's reference dog beach, a golden-sand stretch in El Médano below Montaña Roja, popular with kitesurfers for its reliable wind. Leashed dogs welcome year-round; check the Ayuntamiento signage on the spot.

A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of ancient laurel forest in the northeast, with deep ravines, ridge trails and hamlets. Many marked paths welcome leashed dogs and offer cool, shaded walking, ideal on hot days.

The UNESCO-listed former capital, a grid of colourful colonial streets and plazas. The whole old town is a leashed walk with cafés and terraces, in a cool northern climate pleasant even in strong heat. Indoor museums remain closed to dogs.

A historic north-coast town rebuilt after the 1706 eruption, famous for its natural volcanic rock pools (El Caletón) and cobbled lanes. The seafront and lanes are a leashed walk in a calm setting away from the resort south.

The long landscaped promenade linking the Costa Adeje beaches (Fañabé, Torviscas, El Duque), with cafés, palms and sea views the whole way. The most enjoyable leashed walk in the south; the resort beaches themselves restrict dogs.
