Salzwelten Salt Mine - No-Dog Policy
Salzberg plateau · Salzbergstraße 21, 4830 Hallstatt
The 7,000-year-old Salzwelten Hallstatt is the world's oldest salt mine and Hallstatt's number-one paid attraction. Important: dogs are BANNED inside the mine for safety, hygiene and conservation reasons (slides, narrow passages, salt sensitivity). The funicular up to the Salzberg plateau, the Rudolfsturm restaurant and the Skywalk Welterbeblick viewpoint all accept leashed dogs - plan to enjoy these while one partner does the mine tour solo.
💡 Buy the funicular-only ticket (€20 return, dog free) without the mine - you still get the iconic viewpoint and the Rudolfsturm terrace. Worth it on its own.
