Lugano

Lugano's central 63,000 m² public park along the lakefront, with mature plane trees, century-old magnolias and a fenced Area cani in the eastern section. Leashed dogs welcome throughout; the daily city dog meeting point.

A 3 km paved lakefront walk from Lugano's Piazza Manzoni south to the Paradiso district, with continuous lake views, palms and art installations. Leashed dogs welcome throughout; several gravel coves let dogs dip paws.

The 12-min funicular from Cassarate to the 925 m summit, with leashed dogs accepted (CHF 5 return). The summit terrace offers a 360° panorama and the dog-friendly restaurant welcomes leashed dogs. Air at the summit is 5-8 °C cooler than the city.

A 3.5 km lakeside footpath from Castagnola to the picturesque fishing village of Gandria, passing 18 educational panels on Mediterranean olive cultivation. Almost level, partially shaded, leashed dogs welcome. Lugano lake boat back (dogs free) closes a perfect dog day loop.

The only officially designated dog swimming beach on the Swiss side of Lake Lugano - a small dedicated gravel cove with shallow shoreline, separate from the main human bathing area. Open year-round, free entry. Reach by TPL Postbus 431 (25 min from central Lugano).

Often called the most beautiful village in Switzerland, Morcote sits at the southern tip of Lake Lugano with terracotta-roofed houses reflecting on the water. Reached by lake boat (25 min, dogs free); the entire pedestrian village welcomes leashed dogs and most terrace restaurants accept them.
