Cinque Terre

The coastal Blue Path links the five villages through terraced vineyards and sea drops. Leashed dogs are welcome; the trail is narrow, stepped and hot, so it is best in the cooler months with a Trekking Card.

The famous Lovers' Path between Riomaggiore and Manarola reopened in 2024: short, flat and spectacular. Leashed dogs can walk it with a Cinque Terre Card and, in summer, a booked time slot.

The prettiest of the five, with a harbour ringed by pastel houses and the medieval Doria Castle tower. Leashed dogs roam the lanes and climb to the castle's panoramic terrace.

This grassy headland terrace beyond Manarola offers benches, a playground and one of the best sunset views. A rare open space where a leashed dog can relax away from the lanes.

Above Manarola, the hamlet and sanctuary of Volastra are reached by a vineyard trail, shadier and quieter than the coast. A fine leashed climb rewarded with views over the terraces.

The largest village, with lively lanes and a medieval old town that leashed dogs can wander freely. Note: dogs are banned from the main swimming beach.
