May is peak season for this route. Temperatures across Central Europe and Scandinavia sit in the 15โ20ยฐC sweet spot, right where dogs feel most comfortable. Krakow, Prague, Budapest and Hamburg turn green, beer gardens reopen, and pavements stay cool enough for paws all day.
This month also marks a shift in strategy. From 1 May most Mediterranean municipal beaches ban dogs until 30 September, so southern Europe drops off the map for beach lovers. Copenhagen picks up the slack with its year-round dog-friendly Amager Strand, while Porto stays cooler and calmer than Lisbon further south. Book now, before June crowds and prices arrive.
