Dog-Friendly Attractions in Vienna

The Schönbrunn Palace gardens are among the finest baroque gardens in Europe: 1.2 km of formal French-style garden rising to the Gloriette hilltop monument with its panoramic view over Vienna. Dogs on a leash are welcome throughout the gardens (not inside the palace). The upper garden (between the Gloriette and the parterre) is particularly beautiful for a morning walk with a dog. One of Vienna's most extraordinary outdoor experiences.

The baroque gardens of the Belvedere run between the Upper and Lower Belvedere palaces and are one of the finest formal gardens in Central Europe. Dogs on a leash are welcome in the gardens. The setting — cascading terraces, sphinxes, and the Upper Belvedere reflected in its ornamental pond — is genuinely extraordinary. Dogs cannot enter the palaces themselves, but the garden walk is a complete experience in its own right.
