The teaching hospital of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) on the Ultuna campus south of the centre. UDS is the only fully staffed 24-hour small-animal referral hospital in Sweden, with surgery, internal medicine, oncology, neurology, ophthalmology and a dedicated emergency reception. It is where the local primary-care vets refer their most complex cases, and it is the default destination for any night-time emergency in the Uppsala region.
