Getting Around Tours with a Dog

Tours' Fil Bleu network operates one tram line and a dense bus network. Both small dogs in a carrier (on owner's lap) and larger dogs (leashed and muzzled, with a passenger ticket) are accepted across the network. Category 1 dogs (Pit Bull and similar) are prohibited. Tickets are €1.60 single, €4.10 day pass.

Tours is a major SNCF hub directly served by TGV InOui from Paris Montparnasse (1h05) and on the southern line to Bordeaux. SNCF takes small pets in a carrier (under 6 kg) for €7 per journey; larger dogs travel leashed+muzzled at half the adult fare. Saint-Pierre-des-Corps station 5 km east handles the heaviest TGV traffic; central Tours Gare handles regional TER trains.

Tours Val de Loire (TUF) is a small regional airport 10 minutes north of the city by car, with seasonal Ryanair routes to London Stansted, Dublin and Marseille. EU pet rules apply (microchip + EU pet passport + rabies vaccination). The airport has a basic outdoor walking area but limited facilities — the train (TGV from Paris) is generally the preferred entry point for pet travellers.
