
Loire Sand Banks (Pont Wilson)

Below the Pont Wilson, broad sand and gravel banks emerge from the Loire in summer (JunโSep), forming improvised beaches used by Tours residents for dog walks and gentle wading. Human swimming is officially banned because of currents, but dogs paddling at the edge are tolerated. Access from the north bank Quai Paul Bert.
๐ก Avoid after heavy rain (May, October) when the Loire current strengthens and the banks shrink โ best window is mid-July to early September when the river is at its lowest and warmest.
