Pet-Friendly Attractions in Strasbourg

Strasbourg's most iconic district — a labyrinth of 16th- and 17th-century half-timbered Alsatian houses reflected in the canals of the Ill, with the four Ponts Couverts towers and the Barrage Vauban viewpoint as its landmarks. Dogs are welcome on leash throughout, and the cobbled quaysides and footbridges make for a genuinely beautiful walk at any time of year.

The Grande Île — the historic island at the heart of Strasbourg — is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most beautifully preserved medieval city centres in Europe. The 142-metre pink sandstone Cathédrale Notre-Dame is the centrepiece; dogs cannot enter the Cathedral but can admire the extraordinary gothic facade from the pedestrian square around it, and the entire surrounding street network is walkable on leash.

Beyond its dog park, the Orangerie is an attraction in its own right — a 26-hectare landscape park featuring a Napoleon III pavilion, a lake with paddle boats, a miniature train, and the famous white stork nesting area that is emblematic of Alsace. Dogs on leash are welcome throughout, and the park's proximity to the European Parliament makes it the natural starting point for visits to the European Quarter.
