Public Transport in Sorrento with a Dog

The southern terminus of the EAV Circumvesuviana suburban rail line linking Sorrento to Napoli Porta Nolana (1h05) via the key stops Pompei Scavi-Villa dei Misteri (35 min), Ercolano Scavi (45 min) and Torre Annunziata. Trains run every 30 min in season, every 60 min winter. Pets travel free if muzzled and leashed (no separate ticket required, unique within Italian rail), with small dogs in a carrier always permitted.

SITA SUD runs the iconic Amalfi Coast bus line from Sorrento Circumvesuviana hub west to Positano (50 min), Praiano, Amalfi (1h30), Atrani, Minori, Maiori, Cetara, Vietri sul Mare and Salerno (2h30), with a Ravello branch from Amalfi (30 min uphill). The SS163 coastal road is single-lane in places with hairpin bends and panoramic Tyrrhenian drops. Buses run hourly in season, every 90 min winter. The Marina Piccola ferry terminal at the foot of the Sorrento cliff (lift access from Villa Comunale and Piazza Tasso) is the busiest hydrofoil hub on the Bay of Naples after Naples Beverello: SNAV, Caremar, NLG and Alilauro run 30+ daily crossings to Capri (25 min), Ischia (50 min), Naples Beverello (35 min) and seasonal Positano/Amalfi/Salerno. Leashed muzzled dogs are welcome on all operators free of charge or with a small supplement depending on operator.
