Regensburg's UNESCO World Heritage Old Town and Stadtamhof are walkable end to end in 30 minutes. The Steinerne Brücke, the cathedral square, the riverside and the Walhalla terrace east of the city are all dog-friendly outdoor experiences. Indoor museums are mostly closed to dogs but the rest of the visit is easy.

The 12th-century stone bridge over the Danube, 308 m long and the signature monument of Regensburg. Fully pedestrian since 2008, the open span links the Altstadt to Stadtamhof with sweeping views of the cathedral.
💡 Cross at sunset (around 21:00 in June) for the gold light on the cathedral spires. Avoid 11:00 to 14:00 in summer when tour groups fill the deck.

The Gothic cathedral of St Peter (begun 1273), the masterpiece of Bavarian Gothic. Interior is closed to dogs (assistance dogs only), but the Domplatz square and the surrounding lanes are open and dog-friendly day and night.
💡 The vespers of the Domspatzen choir are sung in the cathedral several days a week; the music carries onto the square outside, dog-friendly listening.
Donaustauf, 10 km east · Walhallastraße 48, 93093 Donaustauf
King Ludwig I's neoclassical Greek-temple memorial above the Danube, opened 1842. The interior is closed to dogs, but the panoramic terrace overlooking the Danube valley is open to leashed dogs and is the visit highlight.
💡 Take the river boat from Regensburg Donau pier (March to October) or bus 5 from the Hbf. The 358 marble steps up to the terrace are steep, give a young dog a rest at the top.
