Quiberon's beach rules for dogs are strictly seasonal. From 1 November to 31 March all the town's beaches are open to dogs, but from 31 March to 31 October only the official dog beaches (caniplages) remain open, while the family beaches on the bay side, including the Grande Plage, are off-limits. The cool Atlantic summer makes a morning beach walk pleasant even in August.
Quiberon designates several official dog beaches that stay open to dogs year-round, including Port Puns, the coves between the casino and Beg-er-Vil at Port Maria, and two small beaches at Le Conguel. These are where dogs can run and swim on the sheltered bay side, even during the summer ban on the family beaches.
Rules: Open to dogs all year. Keep dogs under control, pick up after them, and check the on-site signs as exact zones can change each season.
The Grande Plage is Quiberon's main family beach, a long sheltered crescent of sand on the bay. It is one of the beaches where dogs are forbidden from 31 March to 31 October, so plan to walk your dog here only in the winter months when the seasonal ban is lifted.
Rules: No dogs from 31 March to 31 October. Dogs allowed 1 November to 31 March. Use the caniplages in summer instead.
The small coves of the wild Côte Sauvage make dramatic leashed dog walks, but swimming is forbidden the length of this coast because the currents and sudden waves are among the most dangerous in Morbihan. Enjoy them as a clifftop and beach walk, never as a swimming spot.
Rules: Swimming prohibited everywhere on the Côte Sauvage. Keep dogs leashed near cliffs and out of the water.
