Dog-Friendly Beaches near Palma de Mallorca

Es Carnatge is Palma's primary year-round dog beach — a wild rocky cove between the city and the airport that is officially designated for dogs and their owners at all times of year. No summer ban applies here. The terrain is natural and unspoilt: rocky outcrops, pine scrub, and startlingly clear turquoise water. Dogs can swim freely and run off-leash along the full length of the beach.

Cala Gamba is a small rocky bay east of Palma airport where dogs are permitted year-round. It is a local spot, calm and unpretentious, with a small quay, a handful of traditional seafood restaurants nearby, and easy parking. Less dramatic than Es Carnatge but pleasant for a quiet morning swim with your dog when the main tourist beaches are off-limits.

Playa de Palma is Mallorca's longest urban beach, stretching 4.5 km east of the airport. Dogs are strictly prohibited from April 1 to October 31. From November to March, the beach reopens to dogs and becomes a favourite for long winter walks along the empty shore. The Mediterranean light in January is extraordinary and the beach feels completely different without the summer crowds.
